Contrast (unified)
Under the ground, under the church and the building, is an entire city : subway stations, restaurants, paths to hotels and shopping centers. The Cathedral is a famous entrance to that world.

I like the way you framed your photograph. The cathedral could also be considered the entrance to a higher place. Therefore, your cathedral is both the entrance to Heaven and Hell. :)
Very striking!
I like ravenchase interpretation, but if Heaven is an office building and Hell is a realm of restaurants and shopping centers... I think I'll go with Hell ;)
This contrast is a downtown classic in my opinion, I took this shot too a couple of years ago but yours is far better (I'm impressed by the back building actually... might just be 'cause of the position of the sun at the time, but I think it looks really well and the contrast is perfect).
Very nice. We have a church much like this in Vancouver, also surrounded by highrises!
